The Gatehouse of Menlo Park, much like myself, has been through many phases. When it was first born in 1864, it was the entrance to a 280 acre estate (that was later demolished in 1942). Among other things, it has been home to many a fancy rich person, WWII officer's headquarters, an average 1960's apartment building... once it wanted to be French so the courtyard fountain was actually brought over from France. It also happens to be the oldest building in Menlo Park, and I just really like it.
This is a pretty good example of my go-to summer outfit - easy skirts and white blouses. This shirt didn't look like too special smushed up in the funky rack of thrift store blouses, but after some major stain removal, it's one of my absolute favorites. And the skirt.. it has cowboys on it.. enough said, really. Anyways I gotta run and make dinner! Some days just call Julia Child's pan-broiled steak.
